

Maggie doesn't know what's in the box because the owner of the house, her brother before he died he told her to give Eve the box. On her birthday Maggie an old lady that was the sister of the owner who sold the house gives her a wrapped box for her birthday. He tries to talk to her and when he does he tells her that he's the little boy that's died and she doesn't believe it. It's the little boy she had seen in the crowd. She later finds out that a little boy age 10 named Alex died a few days ago. She got mad at her dad for a while because her father didn't tell her anything about their being a cemetary being right by the house she was moving in. She sees a little boy in the crowd and she waves to him he looked very pale. She is elevan now and she doesn't want to go but she has to.When they get there she passes by the cemetary and somebody has died. And Eve's father likes to make things grow so he goes there to procve that there is no curse. Her mother would always tell her stories, but now she's gone and Eve doesn't have anybody to tell her stories anymore.3 years later her father wants to leave Michigan and live in Beaumont,New York.There is supposingly a curse in this town that nothing ther gorws. Eve doesn't believe in magic since her mother died of cancer when she was 8 years old.

Before long, Evie finds herself in the middle of a fairy tale. But when Evie moves to Beaumont, New York, where her father has bought a withered apple orchard that the townspeople whisper is cursed, she learns about a lost girl, receives a mysterious seed, and meets a boy who claims to be dead. After all, if magic were real, her mom would still be alive. Without Mom, there are no more bedtime stories, no more answers carried on the wind, and no more magic gardens.
